Chapter 2: The Fallen Island

Duty. There are some people who refer to it as a burden. Other people see it as a way to pass the time and waste their lives. However there are some people who carry the burden on their shoulders because like them their ancestors carried that same weight and until the next generation has the strength too as well, they shall be a watchful guardian, protector, and uphold their honour, courage, and duty and this is where the chapter begins.

It was a dark and stormy night. The wind was howling. The trees were snapping. The ground was shaking.  Everything was just wrong on the Floating Island.

But even as the storm raged, one person stood against the might of the storm. He stood against the wind, against the rain, and against the wrath of nature.

He did this for one particular reason.

It was his duty. His duty to guard Angel Island and his duty to protect whoever decided to live on it.   

Angel Island in every sense was a paradise. A paradise for the creatures who wanted to live in true peace and away from the outside world.

It was also his duty to protect the sacred object that was entrusted to the island and its protectors. The sacred object that was entrusted to the Island was something that could bring peace or darkness if used with the seven objects that this controlled.

This…is the one and only Master Emerald and its guardian, who is the last of his kind, will guard it and protect it.

He is Knuckles the Echidna. The last and only Echidna left in the world. He swore an oath to protect the emerald that governs and controls the seven Chaos Emeralds.

Normally he would have kept on eye on it and maybe take a nap when needed, but tonight he stood guard and he was on edge.

He didn’t know why, but he could feel something was wrong.

“Calm yourself” he told himself, “Everything is fine. This is just a regular storm”

But he didn’t believe it. Something was going to happen and it was going to be big and destructive.

But no matter what it was he would defend the emerald and protect it no matter what.
However what he did not know was that the source of the problem was right behind him.
